Barb, can you confirm, does Sandboxie still has to be uninstalled before upgrading Windows 10 to 1809?

I ask because in October, after using 1809 for a couple of day, I rolled back to 1803. So, I am currently in 1803. Thanks.

Bo
During the upgrade the "uninstall sandboxie" message appeared, so I installed 5.27.2 beta and restarted the Windows10Upgrade tool.
Now it works fine.

Hi winbz,

I don't have access to 1809 32bit, as the update has been pulled out. However, I tested on the Fast Ring (17763 which should be the same as 1809) and was able to see the behavior.
I also performed a test on Win 10 1803 32 bit + Beta 5.27.1 --> No issue

So the problem only occurs for 1809 32 bits, not necessarily with the beta. .

I will let the devs know.

Regards,

In order to find this problem, I installed the official 32-bit Windows 10 1803 17134.376 and did not install any other software. I restarted the system repeatedly. The first few times are normal. When I started the system for the fifth time, the bug finally appeared. As shown in the screenshot, the left side of the screenshot is the IE browser without sandbox, and the screenshot on the right is the right side sandbox IE browser with the following error:

1. The IP address of the IE proxy server in the right sandbox disappears, re-enter the proxy server IP, and the "OK" button cannot be pressed.

2. The "Use LAN Proxy Server" checkbox is not selected, the "Advanced" button will not light up, but the sandbox's IE "Advanced" button is already lit.

3. The Do not apply proxy to local address check box should not be lit. However, the sandbox IE "Don't apply the proxy to the local address" checkbox is lit.

Connection settings page has crashed

I chose a different computer, win10 1803 and 1809, and only a 32-bit system, all with the same bug, 64-bit system is normal.

System version: win 10 1809 17763.134 X86
Sandboxie version: SandboxieInstall-527-2

I have tested the latest version above, and the bug still exists. This BUG reappears, every time the system is started, it will appear randomly, usually up to 6 times, or it may appear for the first time.

And produced a new bug:

IE browser right click to open the link menu in the webpage: "Open in new tab" has an error and becomes "open in new window"

Only exists in 32 systems, 64-bit system is normal

1)Fixed a path issue that would prevent applications from running/installing inside a Sandbox [viewtopic.php?f=11&t=26160]
Just did a clean install of Windows 10 1809 and can confirm that Sandboxie is working normal again. Good job! :)

I've just updated to Windows 10 1809 and the SB beta, and everything's working perfectly. Thanks for your quick and expert responses to MS's latest antics. :?)

During the upgrade the "uninstall sandboxie" message appeared, so I installed 5.27.2 beta and restarted the Windows10Upgrade tool.
Now it works fine.
Thanks.

But I am still not clear if we are still required to uninstall SBIE after updating to 5.27.2, do we still need to uninstall 5.27.2 before upgrading Windows 10 to 1809? Barb, can you tell me.

I'd recommend to uninstall before upgrading Windows to 1809. Uninstall takes just the blink of an eye :)
Don't forget to keep your sandboxie.ini saved somewhere to be safe and/or just tell the uninstaller to keep settings.

Thanks, Mr X. But, I prefer not to uninstall. That is my preference.

I still dont have the answer to the question I asked, do we have to or dont have to uninstall SBIE 5.27.2 before upgrading to Windows 10 1809? :)

A yes or no answer to that question is all I want to know.

The Windows version number: ( Win10 1809 32bit 17763.134)

Sandboxie version number: ( SBIE v5.27.2)

Does the issue occur in a new Sandbox with Default settings? ( yes)

NAME & Version/build numbers of any applications involved? ( Internet Explorer 11.0.47)

Are you running antivirus/anti-malware software? ( No third-party security software installed)

Problem Description:

Start Sandboxed IE Browser, open the Internet Explorer menu tool - Internet Options - Connection - LAN Settings - Proxy Server, enter the proxy server IP address and port, can not press the OK button, you can not set the proxy server ! This bug reappears and it will appear randomly each time the system is booted, usually up to 6 times, or it may be the first time.

Even if it is normal at startup, the proxy server is automatically uninstalled after 30 minutes of use.

There is also a bug: IE browser right click to open the link menu in the webpage: "Open in new tab" has an error and becomes "open in new window".

Only exists in win10 1809 x86 systems, win10 1809 x64 system is normal.

The following is a detailed description of the bug and resource monitoring:

Re: 5.27 Beta Available USE THIS FOR WINDOWS 10 1809 [Latest version 5.27.2]

Post by BPrc » Fri Nov 23, 2018 6:13 am

Hi, issue running both OpenOffice and LibreOffice with 5.27.2: applications won't start, but produce an endless string of instances (e.g. "swriter.exe", "scalc.exe") running under Sandboxie.

The Windows version number? (i.e. Windows 7 32bit, 8.1 x64, etc) - Windows 10 x64 1809

Sandboxie version number (SBIE v5.23.3? 5.22?) - 5.27.2

Does the issue occur in a new Sandbox with Default settings? (https://www.sandboxie.com/SandboxMenu#create) - Yes

NAME & Version/build numbers of any applications involved? (Chrome v43, FF45 etc) - LibreOffice 6.1.3 (also most recent OpenOffice build)

Are you running antivirus/anti-malware software? (AVG, Live Essentials..etc) - Windows Defender

What are the exact steps to reproduce the issue? (Launch app X, perform X actions, etc) - run any LibreOffice or OpenOffice application, either existing Sandbox install or clean install; applications run fine under Windows 1803 (including with Sandboxie 5.27.2)

Bo
No need to uninstall. Just upgrade to Beta 5.27.2, update Windows 10. As soon as the next stable Sandboxie update exists you will be automatically notified by sandboxie. Then you can update sandboxie and you won't be in beta anymore.

My settings are: Windows 10 64 bits 1809 version - SB 5.27.2/ No antivirus or firewall programs / Tested on a virgin sandbox and later using virgin sandboxie.ini = same problem, gives me a SBIE2224 error.

EDIT: It´s probably related to this:
Google Chrome will not install inside the Sandbox. This is still under investigation, no workaround as of now.
EDIT 2: I can install it on my Virtualbox machine using Windows 8 64bits and SB 5.26.
I can´t install Google Earth Pro either: https://dl.google.com/dl/earth/client/a ... .2-x64.exe

Bo,

I cannot confirm it, since they pulled the updates before we could finish testing all these scenarios. So, the best way to find out is to update and see what happens. If you are required to uninstall Sandboxie, you will have to follow the steps provided in the first post of this thread.

I suggest you update to beta 5.27.2 first, then try to upgrade, as other users have mentioned that worked for them.

winbz,

As discussed before, I have informed the devs about the issue. We will update this thread if/when anything new becomes available.

Hi BPrc,

I tested LIbreOffice 6.1.3.2 (looks like an early release version) and I can repro the behavior on beta 5.27.2 + Win 1809

The issue did not occur in Windows 1803 + beta . I've made the devs aware.
We will update this thread if/when new info becomes available.

Regards,
Barb.-

I am on 5.27.2. When 1809 first came out, I uninstalled SBIE before doing the upgrade (3 days later went back to 1803) so I know how that works. But I want to know if we dont have to uninstall Sandboxie anymore before doing an upgrade. Is better to know that information before doing the upgrade than not knowing it. I ll ask Curt in a PM.

Everything works fine, except the .msi installer, it will prompt that Windows Installer service cannot be accessed and then exit.
