Uninstall Sandboxie does not remove registry entries...

Post by Cr00zng » Sun Jan 13, 2013 3:13 pm

Windows 7 SP1, 64-bit, Sandboxie 3.76(?) trialware...

The setup ran just fine; however, the uninstall routine leaves behind registry and context menu entries.

Registry entries:
There are a lot of them and here's couple of samples:

Code: Select all

@="Run &Sandboxed"
"Icon"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Sandboxie\\Start.exe\""

@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Sandboxie\\Start.exe\" /box:__ask__ \"%1\" %*"

@="Run &Sandboxed"
"Icon"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Sandboxie\\Start.exe\""

@="\"C:\\Program Files\\Sandboxie\\Start.exe\" /box:__ask__ \"%1\" %*"
The folder of "C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\" does not exists on this PC. Neither CCleaner nor Auslogic flags these entries as invalid and/or orphaned registry entries.

Context menu entry:
Right click on any files in explorer and the popup context menu has a grayed out entry of "Run Sandboxed". Choosing this entry results in Windows asking to select a default program to install the file type.

Is there a "simple" way to remove the orphaned registry entries? The context menu entry presumably would disappear, once the registry entries had been removed.

I recognize a few of those as Sandboxie's entries, but not all of them.
For someone who has this problem, I have recommended in the past that they:

- re-install Sandboxie

- double-click the Sandboxie Control tray icon and choose:
Configure > Windows Shell Integration
Un-check all items in that window.
Close the Sandboxie Control window.

-Use Sandboxie's Uninstall routine, either from the Start Menu or from Add/Remove Programs

- reboot Windows

The recommended way of uninstalling Sandboxie did work for me, thanks.

I've also used Commodo's Program Manager for monitoring the installation at this time and initiated the uninstall through Commodo's utility. Worked like a charm...
Thanks for your help...
