Steam VR apps are being placed on sandbox

Post by HikariWS » Mon Dec 31, 2018 11:57 pm

Some Steam VR apps like vrmonitor.exe and vrwebhelper.exe are being grabbed by one of my sandboxes, always the same one.

IDK what's making this happen. There's no setting about them on any of my sandboxes. This one runs FireFox and MPC and a few less common apps. No game is played on it. My guess is that one of them for some reason is starting Steam VR. Indeed, Steam VR has been very annoying, opening by iteself and refusing to close.

Is there some setting that denies sandboxing a process and forcing it to open outside sandboxes?

HikariWS,

Regarding your question, by default, things are not forced to open in the Sandbox. However, you can use forced programs/folders to change that behavior and force something to start sandboxed:
ForceProcess: https://www.sandboxie.com/ForceProcess
ForceFolder: https://www.sandboxie.com/ForceFolder

Please, provide the required information so that we can better assist you:

Also, please include a copy of your Sandboxie configuration file
Sbie Control -> configure --> Edit configuration
Copy-paste the contents on your repsonse
Highlight the contents you just pasted and click on the "</>" button to format them in the forums.

Regards,
Barb.-

Hello! Sorry for not coming back and tnx for the help.

My current guess is that some sandboxed process, maybe FireFox, is somehow launching Steam VR. Steam client isn't sandboxed.

Anyway, soon I'll reinstall Windows, so I'm waiting for that to continue investigating this issue. If it continues happening, I'll rely with updated info.
