Forced iexplorer.exe and Eset banking protection fails

Post by technoid » Sun Sep 02, 2018 9:10 pm

Hello,

I have Internet Explorer set as my default browser and iexplorer.exe as a forced sandboxie application, but this prevents Eset's banking protection from working because it wants to start a secured Internet Explorer session and Sandboxie intercepts this.

Esets shortcut is:

Code: Select all

""C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Internet Security\ecmd.exe" /startprotectedbrowser"
Does anyone have an idea how Eset can start its secured Internet Explorer session outside of Sandboxie?

This doesn't work:

Code: Select all

"C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Start.exe" /disable_force /box:IE_2 "C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Internet Security\ecmd.exe" /startprotectedbrowser
Sandboxie creates this messages:
SBIE2336 Error in GUI server: [55 / C0000155]
SBIE2335 Initialization failed for process iexplore.exe [88 / 0]
Windows 7 SP1 ultimate x64 + Sandboxie 5.26 (with separated auto delete sandboxes for Pale Moon 26.5.0 (x86), Internet Explorer 11, Firefox 62 (x64) and WinAmp) + Eset Internet Security 11

Hello technoid ,

Here's a list of the supported/tested AVs (YMMV):
viewtopic.php?t=21539

If you would like to run a forced program outside sandboxie, please follow these steps:
https://www.sandboxie.com/FileMenu#disableforce

You may need to remove additional toolbars/addons from IE before you launch it in the Sandbox.

To report a problem, please follow thee guidelines:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19746

You may also want to try blocking the secure session, not sure what would be the result in this particular case, but:
Sbie Control --> Configure --> Edit Configuration
Follow these steps to add a line at the end of the desired Sandbox to block the path you provided above:
https://www.sandboxie.com/ClosedFilePath

For example:
ClosedFilePath=C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Internet Security\ecmd.exe

Regards,
Barb.-

Hello Barb,

thank you very much!
This works, but it is a little bit inconvenient. :-)

Now I have disabled the Eset Secure Browser again.
