Sandboxie Message & UAC Dialog Displays When I Run Chrome Sandboxed [SOLVED]

Hi all,

windows edition: windows 10 64-bit
version: 1809
os build: 17763.253

windows account type: standard user

chrome version: 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)

sandboxie installer used: SandboxieInstall-527-3
sandboxie version installed: 5.27.3 (64 bit)

Issue
1) When I run chrome sandboxed a sandboxie message displays for a split second (see screenshot below).
2) A UAC dialog then displays with the message: do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?
3) The UAC dialog also prompts for a password.

I have used older versions of sandboxie as a standard user and have never encountered this issue when running chrome. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hello dbvault,

Looks like you are running a restricted Sandbox.
Did you test in a new Sandbox with default settings?
Are there any extensions installed? Have you tried disabling them ?
What's your AV software?

Please post your configuration file:
Configure--> Edit configuration
Copy -paste the contents
Highlight what you just pasted and click on the </> to format it for the forums.

I resolved the issue by enabling the The Drop Rights setting. I never had to do this before and the explanation for the SBIE2217 states that the 64-bit edition of Sandboxie enables the Drop Rights setting by default. Why has this been changed in sandboxie 5.27.3 (64 bit)?

Hello dbvault,

No Drop Right changes were made to the beta. You are either using an old Sandboxie.ini file, or have manually changed that setting.
To see all the beta updates, please visit the beta section:

To ensure the issue does not follow you to other sandboxes, either use the installer to fully remove Sandboxie and its configuration, or ensure you are not copying settings when creating a new sandbox (https://www.sandboxie.com/SandboxMenu#create).
Also, if you post your Sandboxie configuration file, I will be happy to review it.

Just updated to windows 10 1809 (x64) and sandboxie 5.27.3, and am also getting this issue. I've checked if drop rights is enabled, but it wasn't for me. Getting various different manifestations, sometimes just a generic win10 UAC prompt, sometimes a sandboxie dialog informing me a program is requesting admin privileges for GoogleUpdateOnDemand.exe.

Going to try making sure my install is clean, but thought I'd report it

Forgot to say - I get this before the first instance of Chrome opens, and after the last instance closes. I think my next step is going to need to be an uninstall and reinstall, as nothing else seems to make a difference

To consider: ensure Chrome is fully updated outside Sandboxie, then delete the contents of your Sandbox and retry .
