Strange error message with Chrome Beta & Dev

Post by CharlesCalthrop » Sat Dec 22, 2018 8:27 pm

I'm running 5.27.2 registered, on Win 64 Pro. This message started appearing when trying to run Chrome Beta (Version 72.0.3626.28 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)) in a sandbox:

SBIE2101 Object name not found: \BaseNamedObjects\IGFXKMDNotifyBatchBuffersComplete, error OpenEvent (C0000022) access=001F0003 initialized=1

It appears three times, and the browser then runs correctly in the sandbox and seems to be OK.

It also appears with Chrome Dev (Version 73.0.3642.0 (Official Build) dev (64-bit)).

It does *not* appear when using Chrome regular (Version 71.0.3578.98 (Official Build) (64-bit)).

Hi CharlesCalthrop ,

I tested on Windows 10 v1809 (not sure which one are you using) x64 and I was not able to reproduce the behavior. I tried these 2:
Dev Beta v 72.0.3626.28 64 bit
Chrome Canary v 73.0.3650.0 64 bit

Are you using any extensions?
Any AV software installed?
Did you delete the contents of your Sandbox prior to relaunching the updated browser?
Does the message prevent you from using Chrome? Otherwise, can you try hiding it to see if that affects functionality in any way?

Regards,
Barb.-

Hi - I'm using quite a few extensions, but I created a completely empty new profile as a test, switched Chrome to it, even deleted default Chrome apps from it, and tried running it in a sandbox - and the same message kept popping up.

I'm using Avira Pro, registered.

The browser works without any issues, the error message just has to be closed - its popup window always appears three times. After closing it three times, it stops showing up, and the browser runs and works without any hindrance.

Hi CharlesCalthrop,

You can choose the "Hide" option so that the message does not appear again,

If you determine which extension is causing the problem, or if it is the antivirus software (you will have to fully remove the AV, reboot, test and see if the behavior changes, then you can re-install it) please let me know and I will give it a try.

Barb.-

:!: The Windows version number? (Windows 10 1809 )
:!: Sandboxie version number (5.27.3 (64-bit) beta)
:!: Does the issue occur in a new Sandbox with Default settings? (Yes)
:!: NAME & Version/build numbers of any applications involved? (Portable apps chrome Version 72.0.3626.81 (Official Build) (32-bit) )
:!: Are you running antivirus/anti-malware software? (Windows defender)
:!: What are the exact steps to reproduce the issue? (Launch chrome)

I've been getting this error for a while whenever I launch chrome from any sandbox. I also get a typing lag in the chrome search box.

When I opened a new sandbox chrome and disabled some plugins, I got the Service not implemented errors to go away.

Microsoft Windows 10 home Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134
Sandboxie Version 5.26 (64-bit)
Error now happens in all sandboxes including new ones.
Chrome Version 72.0.3626.81 (Official Build) (64-bit)
McAfee Total Protection 16.0 R18

All,

Can you please provide a list of any extensions that you are using to reproduce the problem?
Does it happen with a new profile of Chrome (no extensions?)
Is the issue following you to a new Sandbox with default settings?

What are the exact repro steps, including any other software that is running at the time.

Barb.-

No other software running.
Security = Windows Defender
I open Chrome. And get the same message, I now know others have started getting as there version of chrome updates to 72.
I click CLOSE on the message three times. And then sandboxie acts normal.

Extentions
Adblock Plus
Google Dictionary ( Can Probably Go. I Never Use It )
Google Docs Offline
Google Mail Checker
Office Online
OneNote Web Clipper
Shortcuts For Google
WOT

Chrome Apps
Docs

Posted Above, heres an update:
I opened a new sandboxie and launched Chrome. Got the normal 3 Object name not found errors and a bunch of service not implemented errors. When I close it and relaunch a second time, I still get the 3 object name not found errors, but the service not implemented errors are no longer present. As I stated above, there's always this lag now typing in the address bar in chrome in any sandbox.

Chrome Extensions:
True Key by McAfee
Google Docs Offline

Chrome Apps:
Docs
Sheets
Slides

Hi bigmcn ,

Do other browsers generate the same message?
Can you remove the mcafee extension and see if that helps?

If the problem persists:
Does the issue occur if you completely remove McAffee and try a new sandbox with default settings? (I suggest you try this for testing purposes, then feel free to reinstall your security software)

With all due respect, the other guy who got the same error messages doesn't have mcafee or the mcafee extension. We both have the newest chrome updated browser and the fact that the address bar is now giving lag with this error means the issue is with chrome. I'm not messing with my McAfee since I've paid for the software. I did however disable the McAfee True Key extension and when I opened a new browser in a new sandbox even with that extension disabled, I still got the same 3 error messages.

All,

I still cannot reproduce this issue, I re-tested a new installation of Sandboxie 5.27.3 + a new installation of Chrome BETA 72 (Version 72.0.3626.96 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)). And I am not receiving any errors.

Can I get a copy of your Sandboxie.ini to see if there's anything different than mine?
Configure --> Edit configuration
Copy-paste the contents
Highlight the contents you just pasted in the forum response and click "</>" button to format them.

As posted by a previous user:
Disabling hardware acceleration in Chrome fixes it.
Does this setting help others?

Thanks!

Yes, Disabling hardware acceleration got rid of the error messages. However I still get this lag when I type in the address bar, lag seems to drop off as I type more and more characters in the bar, when chrome window is maximized. If I unmaximize the window and shrink it, I no longer get the lag when I type in the address bar. I tried disabling both Use a prediction service settings in chrome but it made no difference.

Yes disabling hardware acceleration fixed the error messages, however not having it enabled gives me lag when I type in the address bar. When I disable hardware acceleration in chrome even not in the sandbox I still get that lag. So the issue is sandboxie no longer works with chrome when used with hardware acceleration. Hope this is fixed in later versions
