After updating Sandboxie thinks my Browser is an email reader?[SOLVED]

Post by Socio » Thu Jul 12, 2018 5:15 pm

After upgrading to Sandboxie 5.26 and I try to run my Brave browser in a sandbox I get this error:

SBIE2212 Email reader 'Brave.exe' is not configured to run sandboxed

I tried to delete my Brave sandbox and then create a new one but I still get the same error.

Up until this point Brave worked great in its sand box and both Vivaldi and Chrome still work fine in their sandboxes.

I am running:

Brave 64bit version 0.23.31
Windows 10 64bit 16299
Sandboxie 5.26
Hit Man Pro Alert 3.7.8
Kaspersky Total Security 18.0.0.405

What would cause Sandboxie to think Brave is an email reader?

Thanks

I tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling Sandboxie then creating a new sandbox and still get that error, there is also another pop up hidden behind the error popup that says:

Could not invoke program

C:\users\***\Appdate\local\Brave\Brave.exe

System Error Code

Access Denied

Edit: I have also tried uninstalling and re-installing the Brave Browser and I still get the same errors.

**Edit: I found a fix from 2012 that someone posted about and modified it for Brave;

Go to Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > File Access > Direct Access
"Add Program" button: Brave.exe
"Edit/Add" button: %DefaultSpoolDirectory%\*
Then press ok

I am not sure exactly what this does nor what changed to make Brave get this error in the first place but this fixes it.
