Post by korazo » Wed Jul 19, 2017 12:37 pm

W8.1 Pro, Sandboxie 5.20 64-bit
Runs fine (like most 3D applications) outside the sandbox and many 3D applications runs inside the sandbox.
Application: Umbrella Corps/Biohazard Umbrella Corps
Game engine: Unity
Tried different launch modes: DirectX9, DirectX11, OpenGL :?

Hello korazo,

Are you running the game via Steam?
Why do you need to run it Sandboxed?
Do you have any Antivirus software installed?

Please provide the results of your Resource Access Monitor:

Even legit games are targets. This isn't the first nor the last but here's a recent example:
A newly patched vulnerability in Valve's Source SDK engine could have allowed hackers to hijack your computer in a truly bizarre way: by killing you in Counter-Strike.

I don't have counter-strike myself but I do have 2 games that were potentially effected by this particular exploit. One runs fine in Sandboxie (minus a font rendering issue resulting in letters instead of crosshairs) and the other uses an anti-cheat that doesn't like SBIE so in turn it doesn't get ran on my main OS and gets run from a "blind gaming OS" without SBIE and instead relies on a filter to reset the OS.

Hello Syrinx,

Thank you for your contribution.

I am trying to understand what does korazo need, in order to see if there might be a workaround we can provide (as it seems that that game won't work Sandboxed and there is no demo for me to test).

Hopefully, after they provide more info, we may find something we can open.

Regards,
Barb.-

Hello korazo,

Please try disabling your Antivirus protection to see if that alleviates the issue.

I am not seeing anything specific in your Resource Access Monitor. But here's what you can try:
https://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?OpenIpcPath

To add an OpenIPCPath to the configuration file:
Open Sandboxie control
Configure---> Edit configuration
Enter the desired IPC path under the desired Sandbox

I recommend you create a new Sandbox to experiment with these settings.

Some suggestions for you based on your Res. Acc. Mon: (try one at the time, deleting the contents of your Sandbox prior to testing them. If they do not work, delete them from the configuration afterwards).

Code: Select all

OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\DbgEng_SqmUpload_Mutex
OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\DbgEngEvent_00003144
OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\df704c02-6f8a-11e7-8413-000b0d0858b8
OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\edd31a42-c466-11e6-8308-000b0d0858b8
OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\ERtFd3g7Kw
OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\GameOverlay_*
OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\GameOverlayRender_*
You will have to test them out and see if they make a difference (there are plenty more on your file. I just selected some of them).

Regards,
Barb.-
