Re: No DEP on Sandboxie programs?

Thanks for replying. :) There were no changes to ASLR or any other build options for 4.9.2. Well, obviously there was! Currently Sandboxie requires an older compiler/linker that does not support DEP. We are working to move it to the latest versions. (I wonder if that's related to linking to msvcrt.d...

Re: Memory leak(s), GALORE

So this was Task Manager after running 4.08 for 6-hours-shy of 70 days: Processes / Performance Shockingly consistent rate of 20,000 KB per day!! Installed 4.09.02, opened couple programs, away a couple hours, and it already climbed noticeably. It's just over 40 MB now after 55 hours... Will...

Re: No DEP on Sandboxie programs?

When checking 4.09.02 I was shocked to discover that you've now disabled ASLR on all files now?! Is that your answer? Well, like I said, not much point having the .exe's ALSR'd if you're not using DEP anyway; but removing ASLR from SbieDll.dll? That's one where it at least had use -- e.g. with other...

Re: System-wide performance killed

OK, Terminating Crypto "only" dropped kernel memory usage by about 85 MB this time (instead of 100+), but verified YES, everything instantly solved and system started flying again, while everything was left running otherwise. (Yeah, Crypto started again as needed, so all fine there, it seems.) That ...

Re: System-wide performance killed

Thanks for the reply! OK, it began again last evening, a few hours past 19 days (uncanny!). It's always gradual at first -- stuff will stay cached for maybe 20-30 mins before it's lost, and then eventually (~8 hours later this time) it's completely killed and constantly accessing the drive for every...

Re: System-wide performance killed

Anything else about this, please? Or anything else you can suggest that I should check or try when it happens again in a couple/few days...? You think I'd actually see some thing with Crypto in ProcMon then? (I don't...) I might not have it running for over 2 weeks again for a while after this time,...

Re: System-wide performance killed

Yeah, I know what the Crypto process is for (at least at a high-level, though I don't know exactly what it has to do...). I never suggested it starts "anything on its own," but I'm wondering what IT is doing that directly or indirectly affects Windows in some way that shouldn't be possible. :? I don...

Re: System-wide performance killed

I think I discovered the cause! I wonder if I'll get any help now, or you guys can check it out, etc... So 3 days ago Windows quit caching any file data again, as expected after 19 days, and constantly accessing the hard drive, thus killing system-wide performance. Horrible! I haven't tried ...

Re: [2] InjectDll Dll failed initialization

1) OK, cool. Thanks for clarifying. :-) 2) Yeah, when trying to "Run Windows Explorer" while SRP's DLL enforcement is applied. See other user's post 2 above mine that I linked to and that's what I get, forever. I saw you're still still trying to figure things out, just wondered if any change may fix...

Re: [2] InjectDll Dll failed initialization

Curt: 1) So IS InjectDll a general injection mechanism (like 3.x I think) or not, as tzuk told me? The InjectDll help page makes it sound like it is... And it still also includes this sentence fragment that doesn't make sense: "Inject" means the DLL is 2) Does that have anything to do with why I (or...

Memory leak(s), GALORE

Will Invincea give this/these problem(s) any more attention? In my topic from 6-8 months ago, System-wide performance killed (and that still happens like clockwork every 19-20 days!), I mentioned the ever-increasing memory usage/leakage with the Sandboxie service GuiProxy process. AFAICT tzuk never ...

Re: Can't drag into Pale Moon

Bump for Invincea! Still the same result over 7 months later... :( Fresh, default installs of Pale Moon and Sandboxie. Still wonder what causes this difference from Firefox? Maybe it needs "special" handling that isn't being applied to Pale Moon? Anyone else using another Firefox-based browser? What...

Re: Can't start SRP "restricted" programs from sandbox

Bump for Invincea! I've been living with, and reported , this over 13 months ago now. :? I guess tzuk never checked it out, but it'd sure be nice to not have to disable SRP in order to use Run Sandboxed, etc. on a Basic User program! The registry part I posted is all that's needed to enable/trigger ...

Re: No DEP on Sandboxie programs?

To FUD Rat Slave, that's because Windows has enabled DEP (presumably with the OptOut system setting), but the Sandboxie programs still don't have the DEP flag (NX_COMPAT) set in 4.09.1. :( (Oh wait, you're using 64-bit, so 64-bit processes always have full, permanent DEP.) But for 32-bit, that means...

Re: 4.09 Beta Available (Latest Version 4.09.1)

+1 on separate 32- and 64-bit installers like tzuk had. :-) Although not a huge deal as long as they're still available for final releases... I noticed my returning-FALSE-from-DllMain Permanent DEP DLL (http://voidmain.realplain.com) now works like 3.76 again! :D I was asking about that last year, a...
